Before graduating in English Literature at the University of Edinburgh in 1995, I worked as a master joiner/carpenter. Following graduation from university, I studied for a post-graduate diploma in Community Education and worked as a literacy tutor in Community Learning and Development. I have gained education awards and published an academic paper on the use of Scots language in family literacy work. I have produced teachers' notes for the Scottish Book Trust.
My first work of fiction, Justified Sinner, was completed in 2016. Since then I have published three more novels in the JP Associate series.

Hello Alan, I’m glad I got the Damask Weaver a couple of weeks ago! I haven’t managed to read it yet as book group books are piling up! Anyway we were over in Elie this weekend and I was thinking of you because I’d picked up a leaflet about the East Neil Literary Festival – for the four Thursdays in November there are four different authors talking about their books. I am going to see Ambrose Parry on the 10th but if Annie and you were keen to see any of the others then you’d be welcome to use the flat. I’ve attached a photo of the flyer. Hope all is well with you guys – think I might hibernate this winter – our house is chilly but my bed is cosy and warm. Think I’ll have to succumb and put on the heating soon!! Love Mairi
